In this workshop, participants will learn how emotions affect them and determine their effectiveness in all of their personal and professional relationships; how they impact moods, behaviors and thought patterns; increase or decrease creativity and productivity; specific ways the emerging science of Emotional and Relational Intelligence (ERQ™) and recent developments in Interpersonal Affective Neurobiology help us unlock the emotional brain and understand some of the psychobiological processes that impact emotional connection; some of the ways the brain and mind affect intimate relationships, increase interpersonal effectiveness, and facilitate practical ways to fulfill the clarion call of Christ in John 13:34-35 to pursue and cultivate healthy relationships, including strong marriages AND how these insights can significantly increase our effectiveness in time-limited approaches to helping people change and grow.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:
1. Be able to articulate the core distinctives of Emotional and Relational Intelligence (ERQ™)—what it is, what it isn’t, why it is important, and how it relates to interpersonal effectiveness
2. Understand the four quadrants of ERQ, their theological and psychological correlates, and how they relate to personal growth, as well as increased interpersonal, professional and therapeutic effectiveness
3. Learn specific ways to apply ERQ to help dismantle dysfunctional patterns, identify growth potential, and compliment almost any therapeutic approach in the context of Growth-Focused Brief Therapy
